The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) is the peak body representing local governments in their dealings with other governments, unions, businesses and the community.
Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) is the leading professional association representing managers and aspiring managers, and was established to provide professional support to council managers.
The LGMA's mission statement is 'to promote the cause of local government and to advance the development and improvement of local government management'.
The LGMA offers opportunities for continuing professional development, training programs and seminars, and registration of professional development achievements.
LGMA Queensland is part of a national organisation with divisions in each state.
