Compliance assessment is a new development assessment process introduced under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.
It has been introduced to help reduce red tape and ensure low-risk developments are assessed using a simpler, more efficient process.

From 18 December 2009, compliance assessment is required for certain types of subdivisions in residential and industrial areas and operational works associated with these subdivisions.
Further information about the types of subdivisions which require compliance assessment is available in the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 ( 2.6 MB) and the Sustainable Planning Regulations 2009 ( 923 KB).
Development assessment - acceleration of compliance assessment ( 54 KB) has been developed to assist with understanding this process with respect to the State Planning Policy 03/10: Acceleration of compliance assessment ( 155 KB).
