Industry go to person
In February 2013 Assistant Minister Rob Molhoek was appointed as the industry “go-to” person for the property and construction industry. The role of the go-to person is to improve efficiencies by providing industry with a direct line of communication to government so issues that are of industry-wide concern, or of relevance to a number of portfolio areas, can be brought quickly to government's attention.
Rob has extensive experience in local government and was a former councillor of the Gold Coast City Council giving him the background needed for the government’s planning reform agenda. He will provide the conduit support needed for the property and construction sector and will play an important role in engaging with local councils on a range of issues, including legal protection for councils from inappropriate development on flood-prone land.
Prior to Rob’s appointment, previous Assistant Minister Ian Walker made great progress in the role of industry go-to person, which is a legacy Rob will take on with vigour.
