Queensland local governments make a diverse range of local laws to assist them to govern their respective areas. The Local Government Act 2009 and City of Brisbane Act 2010 empower local governments to make local laws that are suitable to their particular needs and resources, and that achieve the purpose and principles of local government.
National Competition Policy guidelines are available under Statutory guidelines.
Model local laws may be approved by the Minister for Local Government as suitable for incorporation by all local governments into their local laws.
