 David Edwards Director-General
David's professional background is in economics, infrastructure, project management and public policy. Prior to being appointed Director-General of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDIP) in April 2012, David's previous positions included Manager of Strategy and Market Development for GHD, a global engineering and professional services company, and State Director for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, Australia's oldest independent economic think tank. Prior to that David worked in senior roles in several Government agencies including the Department of State Development and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
David's role at DSDIP sees him leading the state's central, economic development agency driving state development, major projects facilitation, assessment and approvals, planning reform, and infrastructure planning and delivery. DSDIP has assets valued at $1.6B, a budget of $237M and revenues of over $200M.
In addition to his role as Director-General, David is chairman of Economic Development Queensland, Deputy Chair of the Gold Coast Infrastructure Authority, a director of Southbank Corporation and a member of Infrastructure Queensland.

Barry Broe Coordinator-General
Barry's professional background is in infrastructure, major projects and transport across all aspects ? planning, design, funding, procurement, construction, operations and maintenance. With 30 years of diverse public sector experience, he has successfully planned, coordinated and delivered infrastructure and major projects both in Queensland and overseas.
He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree (first class honours) from the University College Dublin, Ireland and a Master of Engineering and Technology Management degree (METM) from the University of Queensland.
His work history includes the role of divisional manager of Brisbane Infrastructure in the Brisbane City Council, during which time a $6 billion infrastructure program was delivered. As the Director of Transport Planning and Policy for London, he was responsible for the delivery of major infrastructure projects and also led the transport planning for the successful Olympic Bid. His work in the Queensland Government included working for the Department of Transport and Main Roads in a wide range of planning, design and construction roles.

Stuart Pickering Deputy Director-General, Major Projects Office
Stuart Pickering has recently joined the department from Brisbane City Council where he was responsible for the delivery of the City Hall Restoration Project.
Stuart has over 30 years experience in capital development, strategic asset management and facilities operational management across state based and national organisations.
In addition to asset and capital development projects, Stuart has had extensive business management experience at executive/director level for both private and government organisations.
With qualifications in architecture and commerce, Stuart has managed an extensive range of projects across retail, commercial, education, residential, health and industrial.

Greg Chemello, Deputy Director-General, Planning
Greg has 30 years' experience in the property and development sectors and has held senior professional, management and leadership roles with both (public and private sector) property asset owners and private sector advisory/consulting businesses.
With qualifications in town planning, environmental science and business management, Greg has managed an extensive range of private and public sector development projects across the sport/leisure/entertainment, residential, retail, commercial and industrial sectors.
In addition to delivery of development projects, Greg has extensive business management experience having undertaken General Manager / senior executive roles for a number of private companies and public sector organisations, especially during periods of significant organisational transformation. Greg has developed considerable expertise in areas such as strategic planning, governance, change management, commercial negotiation and stakeholder management and communication.

Jamie Merrick, Deputy Director-General, State Development
Before being appointed Deputy Director-General, Jamie held a number of roles with the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) in the UK, including most recently as Executive Director of Strategy. He was responsible for the development of the East of England Regional Economic Strategy, which set out long-term ambitions for the UK's fastest growing and most research-intensive regional economy. He also led work to evaluate the effectiveness of $1 billion of economic development investment in the east of England and piloted innovative approaches to infrastructure investment planning and delivery. His other roles at EEDA included Director of Sustainable Development, where he was responsible for the major physical regeneration and employment programs, investing some $120 million a year.
From September 2010, he was seconded to the Department of Business Innovation and Skills to develop policy on future economic development and business support arrangements in the UK. Previously, he has worked in the global exports division of a high growth ICT company in Cambridge, as well as held roles in higher and further education.

Kathy Schaefer, Deputy Director-General, Regional Services
Since being appointed Deputy Director-General in July 2008, Kathy has led the implementation of three machinery-of-government processes and a major review of the department's resource allocation.
Kathy has diverse leadership experience, having worked in three states in two tiers of government across local, regional and state settings.
Her professional experience includes General Manager of the Central Coast Council, Tasmania, where she led significant local government reforms including regional planning, water and sewerage and financial sustainability of local government.
Kathy also served in the South Australian Department of Education, Training and Employment for five years where she worked within the employment, training and youth portfolio areas.

Colin Cassidy, Deputy Director-General, Strategy and Governance
Colin joined the State Government in 1991 following ten years of experience in local government and has over 20 years experience in the State Government in a range of senior technical, policy and leadership roles.
Colin's professional experience includes leading major structural and cultural reforms, legislation and policy and improved service delivery.
He was appointed Acting Deputy Director-General of Strategy and Governance in 2011.

Damien Walker, Deputy Director-General, Land and Asset Management
Damien commenced with the Queensland Government in November 2010. Damien held the role of Deputy Coordinator-General, with more recent roles as Deputy Director General, Infrastructure and Land and General Manager, Major Projects with the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning.
Prior to this Damien held senior executive roles with the South Australian Government. This included the South Australian Department of Health leading delivery of major health projects, including the new Royal Adelaide Hospital which is a $1.7 billion Public Private Partnership. Damien has also held roles with SA's Departments of Trade and Economic Development and Transport, Energy and Infrastructure - planning for and delivering major infrastructure.
Damien has significant experience in infrastructure planning, procurement and delivery, and leading complex and challenging major projects in conjunction with key partners such as local government and the private sector.
Damien holds academic qualifications in planning, property and public policy.

Chris Mills, General Manager, Economic Development Queensland
Chris was appointed General Manager of Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) in February 2013. With a background in tourism, property and infrastructure, he has held senior roles in private and public sector businesses. Prior to the establishment of EDQ he held executive positions at the Urban Land Development Authority, facilitating property and infrastructure transactions across the state, and at South Bank Corporation where he managed a range of development, financial, retail and other operating responsibilities.
In addition he has worked within various operating divisions of an ASX listed tourism and leisure company, and with international chartered accounting firms in both Australia and England.
Chris was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia in 1992 and is currently a board member of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
