On 1 October 2010, the Draft Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan and Draft Wide Bay Burnett State Planning Regulatory Provisions 2010 were released for public consultation. To provide more information to the community, a series of public forums were held across the region during the consultation period.
Public consultation closed on 24 December 2010. All submissions received before this closing date were considered and played an integral role in finalising the regional plan and state planning regulatory provisions.
Consultation report
A consultation report (
254 KB) has been prepared that outlines the key issues raised in the consultation period, the methodology used to consider the issues, the department’s response and a summary of the changes that have been made to Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan and the Wide Bay Burnett State Planning Regulatory Provisions 2011.
Key Issues raised
The majority of the submissions requested changes to the regional land use categories identified in the regulatory maps of the Draft Wide Bay Burnett State Planning Regulatory Provisions 2010. These included, for example, requesting that the land use category change from the Regional Landscape and Rural Production Area to the Urban Footprint or Rural Living Area.
The remaining submissions raised matters relating to the structure and implementation of the regional plan, its preparation, the proposed dwelling densities, minimum lot size and infrastructure provision.
